Member News

Henry H. Perritt, Jr., Vice Chair of the Committee on Regulatory Initiatives and Section liaison to the Coordinating Committee on Legal Technology, has left Villanova Law School to become Dean of Chicago-Kent Law School.

Section member, and former Council Member, Jeffrey S. Lubbers was the recipient of the Federal Bar Association's Walter Gellhorn Award in recognition of his "outstanding contributions to the fairness and efficiency of the Administrative Process." The Award was presented in a ceremony in Washington on October 16, 1997. Jeff was the long-time Research Director of the Administrative Conference of the U.S., and is now a Visiting Professor at the Washington College of Law, American University. He was also the 1994 recipient of the Section's Mary C. Lawton Award for Outstanding Government Service.

Former Section Chair Robert Lee McCarty, 77, passed away on November 18. Bob McCarty, a graduate of Bowdoin and Yale Law School, with an LL.M. degree from Georgetown, practiced in Washington, D.C. since 1948. A partner in McCarty and Noone and later with Heron, Burchette, Ruckert & Rothwell, and more recently of counsel to the firm of Brickfield, Burchette & Ritts, Mr. McCarty specialized in natural resources law and helped argue a landmark Supreme Court case apportioning water of the Colorado River. He also was general counsel to the American Medical Technologists. Mr. McCarty was Chair of the Section during the year 1966-67 and was also a member of the Administrative Conference of the United States and the Department of Education's appeals board.
