This program brings leaders from the area's major utilities - Santee Electric Cooperative and South Carolina Electric and Gas, together with environmental leaders and city planners to discuss how South Carolina has balanced historical and natural preservation along with economic development. What tensions exist, and what lies ahead for the state?

Section Council Meeting Part II - "The Controversy Over Regulatory Science"

The Center for Progressive Regulation (CPR) has produced a set of "Clean Science Principles" in answer to what they consider some of the problems of politicization and conflict of interest in regulatory science. Representatives from CPR will discuss the Principles and provide background on what prompted CPR to develop them. Additional panelists as well as the audience will provide perspectives form industry and agencies as well as other feedback on the Principles. Finally, the Section will consider whether it would be appropriate to develop its own recommendations in this area.
