The
Section had an exceptional Fall Conference on October
21-22. With a terrific line-up of CLE programs and
outstanding speakers, we had record attendance. The
conference ended with an evening at the Supreme Court
with a program featuring four former Solicitors General
and a gala dinner hosted by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor
and attended by both ABA President Robert Grey and
ABA President-Elect Michael Greco. Over thirty people
attended our first mentor-mentee lunch. Look for a
full report in the next print issue of the Administrative
and Regulatory Law News. Thanks again to our Conference
sponsors (LINK!)!

2004 Administrative Law Conference
Promises to Deliver
Section
"EU Project" In Full Swing
The Section's
EU Project is now launched and in full swing, with comparative
studies underway of European Union adjudication, rulemaking,
judicial review, government information and oversight practices.
The most
recent status report prepared by Chief Reporter George
Bermann is now available online. The Section is still looking
for additional sponsors for the project. If you are interested,
contact Eleanor Kinney, Section
Chair-Elect, or Richard Stoll, chair
of the Section's Sponsorship Committee.
ABA
House Passes Civil Penalties Resolution
The Section's resolution encouraging federal
agencies to use administrative regimes that permit the imposition
of civil monetary penalties as part of a regulatory program's
comprehensive enforcement scheme was adopted by the ABA
House of Delegates at the association's annual meeting in
August. Thanks to Jamie Coburn for his hard work on this
resolution.
