50. DISPUTE RESOLUTION SECTION DEVELOPS NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, IMPROVES MEMBER OUTREACH

It was another banner year as the Section of Dispute Resolution continued to create and develop new training opportunities for its members.  The Annual Spring Conference in Atlanta – ADR on My Mind in Georgia – presented more than 120 cutting edge conference and pre-conference CLE sessions on topics covering 15 subject areas. The conference continues to be the gathering place for those who are interested in ADR.

The Fourth National Institute of Mediation and Advocacy, the section's annual institute, which brings together the unique perspectives of both mediators and advocates, was a hit in Seattle.   Hot Topics in Entertainment and Intellectual Property Issues, the National Conference on Court ADR, the Forum for Expanding Opportunities for Women and Minorities in ADR and the Legal Educators’ Colloquium rounded out the CLE agenda for the year.  Many of the CLE sessions were taped for those unable to attend.

The section also made advancements in member outreach, changing its Just Resolutions Newsletter from a three times per year print publication to a 10 times per year electronic publication, allowing it to provide members with more information, practice tips and updates on projects, ethical issues and opportunities.   In addition, the Section’s Web site went through an entire transformation. This reorganization allows members and the public to more easily access the rich content on the site.
