45. PREVIEW PROVIDES EXPERT SUPREME COURT ANALYSIS; COMPANION SITE HOSTS MERIT BRIEFS

Supreme Court Preview, a publication of the Division for Public Education, presents a plain-language, expert analysis of the issues, arguments, background and significance of every case slated for oral argument before the U.S. Supreme Court.  An issue is published before the start of each of the Court’s seven argument sessions. A wrap-up issue, published in July, highlights the key rulings from every Supreme Court decision handed down throughout the term and presents essays and a statistical analysis.

The ABA has a unique partnership with the Supreme Court to publish and distribute Preview. The Court distributes pertinent Preview articles to every journalist attending oral arguments. At the Court’s request, we provide advance electronic delivery of Preview for use by the justices on the Court’s Intranet. Through a special arrangement with the Court, the Preview Web site makes all merit briefs filed publicly available.

In addition to hosting the Court’s merits briefs, Preview’s Web site provides an overview of the jurisdiction, practices and procedures of the Court, selected full-text articles of featured cases, and much more, including “Cases at a Glance,” which offers an advance look at the issues raised in every case. Continuously updated links in each Case at a Glance takes the reader to Preview’s case highlights and full text of the Court's decisions.
