15. ASSOCIATION'S VOICE IN SUPPORT OF THE PROFESSION GROWS AS ABA MEMBERSHIP REACHES ALL-TIME
RECORD HIGH

Membership in the ABA reached 413,108 this year, which is a new record high.  The overall membership increase of 5,864 was reached through record highs in each membership category: 351,563 lawyers, 9,876 associates, and 51,669 students. 

As the largest voluntary professional membership organization in the world, the American Bar Association is the national voice of the legal profession, and with each new membership, it represents a larger percentage of the lawyer population in efforts to support the profession.  The ABA works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understandingaround the world of the importance of the rule of law in a democratic society.
