The study released August 2005 by the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers¿ Professional Liability, analyzes malpractice claims against lawyers covered by insurance carriers who participated in a survey. The report compares new data from 2000-2003 with prior studies conducted in 1996-99, 1990-95 and 1983-85. Though the period studied included upheavals in certain sections of the economy, the data does not clearly bear out an increase in transactional ¿dot.com¿ type claims or claims based on corporate scandals in the post-Sarbanes Oxley era.
