Letter From the Publisher

Dear Colleagues:

September 17 is Constitution Day, a landmark day to be celebrated in schools nationwide. The ABA Web store offers everything you need to talk to children of all ages about why the Constitution is so important and so vital.

Start with our collection of U.S. Constitutions, and Constitutional materials, at the Constitution mini-site. The ABA Web store features several different versions of the Constitution at different prices; leather-bound gift constitutions; The People's Guide to the U. S. Constitution, by Dave Kluge; and even a "biography" of the Constitution by Akhil Reed Amar.

James Grippando's young adult novel, Leapholes, contains dramatic appearances by Dred Scott, Rosa Parks, and figures from other prominent cases in U.S history, as well as a layered, subtle explanation of how law develops over time. Feel free to download a multitude of free classroom materials on the Leapholes product page that you can use to go into any middle-school classroom and lead a discussion of basic legal principles.

Similarly, the ABA's Public Education division has prepared materials useful to lawyers and judges who want to visit classrooms on Constitution Day. Find them on the Public Education page of the ABA Web site.

For your own use, or perhaps to share with your local school, the ABA Web store also carries the Constitutions of the World Online, and the Constitutions of the States and Territories.

Finally, Constitution-related commentary can be found in the ABA Web store; books such as Richard Posner's Not a Suicide Pact and Michael Tigar's Thinking About Terrorism use careful analysis of Constitutional texts and seminal cases to build their competing arguments about the role of the executive and the judiciary in times of national crisis.

Sincerely,

Bryan Kay
