Letter from the Publisher

Dear Colleague:

Many of us have toyed with the idea of one day writing fiction; after all, our every day lives are often populated with the kind of larger-than-life personalities and dramatic themes that resonate in good legal fiction. But how does one get started? How does one complete a first draft? How does one take the every day reality of the practice of law and translate that into a compelling legal thriller?

We hope you will come find out during the ABA's Annual Meeting in San Francisco next month. James Grippando, the best-selling author of a dozen legal thrillers for HarperCollins including When Darkness Falls and Got the Look (as well as the young adult novel Leapholes, published last year by the ABA’s Criminal Justice Section), will speak about "How to Write Your First Legal Thriller. " Grippando will appear on Friday, August 10, 2007, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. at the San Francisco Marriott, where many other Annual Meeting CLE events and sessions will take place.

Please join us!

Sincerely,

Bryan Kay
