Guantanamo Legal Expert to Speak on Presidential Abuse of Power, Ramifications
A Conversation with Joseph Margulies
CHICAGO, Oct. 17, 2008 – Joseph Margulies, the lead lawyer in Rasul v. Bush, the landmark Guantanamo detentions case, headlines the first of the American Bar Association’s Public Program Series on legal issues of general interest. Margulies will discuss the United States Supreme Court decision that gave U.S. courts—and not the president—the authority to decide the fates of suspected terrorists who had been denied legal representation.
The program will be moderated by Edward Adams, editor and publisher of the ABA Journal.
